So today's iTeach episode 9, I want to show you two important strategies:
1) How to COUNTER the Miner
2) How to USE the Miner
These decks are very common at 2500+ Trophies, so to climb to the top, we must first have to know these strategies. Lets begin!
How to Use the MINER
When using Miner, you want to damage their tower as much as
possible consistently throughout the game. So having a Spell like Fireball or Poison is good. Poison is great
because it helps kill low elixir cost troops like Goblins which are often used
to counter the Miner. So your Miner and Poison can damage the tower.
Now these decks similar to Royal Giant Decks require
“POKERS”, units use to damage the tower slowly and surely. The best unit for this is Spear Goblins. Hard to defend against these guys without it damaging your tower
because opponents may want to save elixir by not countering them if they don’t
have low elixir troops.
3 Best Ways to Engage with the Miner:
1) Miner is best at taking out buildings, from huts to Elixir
Collectors. This will help you gain a healthy lead in Elixir.
2) You use the Miner when the enemy tower is distracted by your
incoming troops (usually from a counter attack). The Miner is then free to attack and damage the Tower without taking much damage.
3) Send the Miner in as a mini-tank followed by spear goblins on the same lane. The Miner tanks the Tower damage, while the spear goblins is damaging the tower freely.
So the Miner acts almost like a Hog Rider, except he bypasses the enemy units for lesser damage. So these decks must find other means to damage the tower consistently throughout the game (i.e. Poison Spell, Spear Goblins, and/or Princess). Decks that use a Miner then are considered Control Decks.
How to Counter the MINER:
To counter the Miner, you must always add pressure to them so you don't fall behind in the Elixir game. Try to learn what cards your opponent has and see if they have a weakness towards your own cards and then abuse it! For example, if they don't have a fireball or just used it, then you rush them with Barbarians. It is definitely an uphill battle. Use your counter attacks wisely.
4 EASY Tips to help Defeat Miner Decks:
1) Try to prevent from getting poked by their Spear Goblins or Princess. Deal with them before they damage your tower.
2) Usually Miner decks have lower elixir costing troops. Especially if you run high elixir troops, you can force a big attack after they play an Elixir Collector or they use a Miner and Poison.
3) Mini Pekka is great at destroying the Miner and can be used for a counter attack (seeing the trend of these little guys? They counter Hogs, Royal Giant and Miner...hint hint).
4) If you can anticipate where the Miner pops up. Before they pop up, place troops there and when Miner surfaces, they would attack your troops instead of the building/tower they originally intended on attacking. In other words, your troops get priority. Miner hates your troops more than your buildings/tower :).
I finally made it to Legendary Arena! Very excited and happy. Looking forward to the perks of being able to buy Legendary cards now!
Legendary Arena Perks:
For those who don't know they come randomly in the 24hour shop but costs 40,000 gold. Now its quite expensive and if you converted to real money it costs around 25-30USD. But a level 1 legendary card is suppose to scale to a level 7 rare, so if you look at it that way, its far cheaper to buy it for 40k than to upgrade to a level 7 rare.
But by far the biggest perk is the bragging rights! No, just kidding, or am I? haha. Well I personally feel complete. Almost like beating the game.
Anyhow, So today I want to share with you some of my SECRETS and PRO TIPS to help you all get to legendary arena.
10 Secrets and PRO Tips:
1) Hover over Card and Hold to Display Info:
If you hover on the card during battle, you can see how much damage your spell and units do. This way you can better gauge if its worth it to throw that fireball at that tower or to kill the troops ahead to force a draw.
2) NEVER ever hit the KING Tower:
Until before you have at least eliminated one Arena Tower, because that activates him once he's damaged. Effectively you gave your opponent a free tower. Opponent's King Tower activates himself after you eliminated one of their Arena Tower.
3) Make MINOR changes in deck:
We all get frustrated with losing streaks, but don't give up on a deck once you figured out how to use it. Especially if you know your deck has potential. How to tell is looking at other decks at higher levels in TV Royale or you know someone at higher trophies than you with same deck.
You should only make small changes to reflect the current Meta. What I mean is, the game changes and so do most common and popular decks. So you may need a different card to counter those decks (i.e. Barbs or Mini Pekka for those Royal Giants). Small changes don't affect your consistency as much as a total revamp. However at some point in your game it is wise to change up decks just to learn and discover new cards and decks. Usually I do this earlier as it won't affect my trophies as much when I climb higher.
Know your deck well, so you know exactly what cards compliment what and what you need to counter which decks. Remember most wins come from anticipating your opponent's moves.
4) Spend your gold wisely:
As a FTP player especially true. Spend only your gold to upgrade key cards. I usually limit myself with the amount of Epic cards I rely on also as they are expensive. By Arena 6 and 7, you should have discovered what deck you feel comfortable with.
Buy cards from shops usually to make a profit. I only buy commons up till it costs 6 gold for the cards I use (8 or 10 gold if they are good commons like Minion Horde, Barbarians, and Cannon).
Not all cards are the same value. I find Barbarians and Minion Horde are very strong cards, that have potential for the future. So you can buy those up to 8 or 10 gold also even if you don't current use.
Same goes for Rare, I buy up till 60 gold for ones I use and if they are very powerful rare's like the Hog Rider, I may buy up till 80 or even 100.
Epic you should only buy 1 at 2000 gold if you use.
5) Spend your Gems even wiser:
FTP:
Save your gems! Don't use them till you hit 500 gems to buy a bucket of gold for 10,000 gold if you are FTP. That is all you do. You can also save up to buy Legendary once you get to Arena 8 for 40,000 gold.
50-300USD:
If you pay 50-300USD real money, then you can start "gemming the cycle" at Arena 6 and beyond. Higher Arena offers more cards per chests. So don't waste your gems at lower arena levels. Also because at lower Arena's you should be trying new things and won't know which cards you may like to use. For example, Skeleton Army is a great card Arena 1-4, but it really becomes obsolete after.
500USD+:
You can afford to buy some Super Magical Chests to get lucky at the Legendaries. BUT if you want pure cards, then Giant Chests are the way to go.
But still gemming the cycle is still the most efficient Gem versus Money wise (just not time wise :)) Gemming the Cycle: Chests you get from battle are NOT random, they follow a grid and pattern. So the faster you can unlock the silver and gold chests, the faster you will race through the line to get to a Magical and Giant Chests during Battle. The better the chests, the MORE value you get gemming it to open, because of the time versus gem ratio. So open all the Giant, Magical and Super Magical Chests you got.
6) After 3 Defeats, take a break and Don't play more than 4-5 Games at Once:
For various reasons. If your superstitious, then of course you should stop. But I think honestly it is because you get frustrated and stop playing normally. Your skills are deteriorating.
Also another factor is, you start to get confused of what cards your opponent has. Like I always try to remember what cards my opponent has so I make sure I SAVE a card I have if I need to counter theirs. For example if they have 3 musketeers, then I should hold off my fireball on that Princess. It is not worth it. I should save it for the musketeers. After a few continuous games, I forget if it was this play that an the Barbarians or if it was the game before. So I make the wrong calls.
7) Play during a Specific Time Frame:
Now, Im not sure if this is entirely true or if it's my own psyche. But I do better playing in the Evenings around the time of 9pm-12pm EASTERN time. Maybe its the group of people playing at that time? Mind you I play all parts of the day to get chests and what not.
Some rumor say that North American players are not as competitive as Asian players therefore playing at our time zone is beneficial, but who knows if that is true. As I said, I like playing at 9pm which means the morning in Asia.
8) Watch TV Royale:
After the change, its harder to only watch quality matches from top players. But you can still do that! I learn the most from these players. Sometimes they may do something you didn't know about or can't know about.
For example, I don't own any legendary, but I face them regularly. So I need to know the potential of those cards. When I throw a Hog Rider down, how many hits can I get off on tower if he just defends with an Ice Wizard? These are the things I look at during these videos. I also get inspiration on deck ideas and what the current meta is so I'm prepared to fight against it.
9) Practice:
Like anything else in life, you need to practice to master something. I play with clan members and training mode for that. That is how I learn how to split troops and do the hog jumps like you see in my videos.
Also, another idea is to make an ALT account. That way you don't have to be as stressed about your trophies and get more practice.
10) Don't get too caught up on Trophies:
I know we are all racing to the top, but stress makes you play horrible! Just focus on playing the best you can. I know this is hard as I was hovering around 2900 for a week before I finally took it home. The first few times at 2980+, the stress got to me and I started playing really bad. So don't let it get to you! If you play consistent, you will get there fore sure. So don't sweat it!
Hope we can all get to Legendary Arena and beyond! Take care everyone and CLASH ON!
So I know which the introduction of new cards, people have been frustrated especially with Sparky. Trust me, I was too. Sparky is super powerful IF...IF he catches you off guard. But the good news is, I'm about to tell you my 4.5 Most Reliable Ways to Defeat Sparky Every-time! Watch the video first and let me explain...
"4.5" Most Reliable Ways to Counter Sparky, Spark, Sparks:
1) Split Troops/Units
The most reliable way! By far. You have to deploy the units that come in multiples (Skeleton, Barbarians, Goblins, etc.) so that they spread apart the four corners of Sparky! The good thing is, once you mastered this. The applications are endless. You can defeat Wizards with Barbarians. You can defeat Ice Wizards with Skeletons (with the help of your Tower). So on and so on. Definitely an awesome technique! I would rank it as even a GODLY Technique!
2) Deploy Low Elixir cost Troops as Decoy
Works great to reset the timer once Sparky comes near. Deploy Skeletons (1 elixir) or Goblins (2 elixir) to waste its charge. Now you have 5 seconds to deal with it. And as I mentioned in point number one, if you can split them you get even greater value, but sometimes its worth it to lay them at the back of your arena as Sparky advances and you have full elixir. By the time Sparky reaches to your side of the playing field your weak troops would be up to it to waste its charge,
3) Zap Spell
The stun RESETS it's timer. So again now you can 5 extra seconds to deal with it at your side of the arena.
4) Air Units
That is right, Sparky doesn't shoot air. Ironic that it stores lighting from the sky...
0.5) Other Spells: Notably Freeze and Rocket
These are more situational. That is why I don't rank this method as highly has the others. Rocket is good as it is 6 elixir for 6 elixir and hopefully you timed it well to damage other things your opponent has as well. So timing is key here.
Freeze also works well, but again it costs 4 elixir and it only nulls the pain for the duration. But it does buy you time to deal with it.
Secrets Out!
So there you have it my friends. Now go practice these strategies and knock those wheels off that cart!
So today I want to show you another deck, post patch that I
use! Yes you know it guys, I like experimenting new decks. But as I always say,
make small changes so you won’t have as steep learning curve when playing. Consistency
is key when you want to trophy push! Sometimes I don’t care because when you
switch back to your usual deck, you should always be able to get back up!
Without further delay…
My Pyro-Hog Deck:
Zap: mini-stun
helps and my defence against Minion Hordes
Fireball: My
favourite combo with the Zap especially since I don’t run Arrows. Great to
counter those mustached barbarians and I also use it to clear the back line of
incoming tanks when need.
Cannon: Yes I
still love the cannon despite the what, 80th “re-balance” this year?
I love this cheap defense. Helps lure troops especially building targeting ones
like Giant. One it separates the tank from supporting troops and two it wastes
their time walking to center and out of it.
Barbarians: Good
counter to Royal Giants (even if they fireball you). Overall, great troop for
defense and offense.
Hog Rider: my
“KILL” card of choice (learn about the Advance
Technique: Hog Leap/Jump in video)
Musketeer: my
only anti-air and support for defense and offense. Her range is awesome (out
ranges defense buildings like Bomb Tower and Cannon). I can use this card aloneto counter all air decks that have (Lava Hound, Minion, Minion Horde
and Baby Dragon) See it in Action Here.
Skeletons: my
favourite little guys for mainly defensive purposes. Great cheap counter troop
if used correctly! Look at how I counter with these guys using 1 elixir for 5
elixir Minion Horde – Advance Technique
– Skeleton Run (same link as above).
Elixir Collector:My key to beating higher-level opponents. You
need to gain an elixir advantage to beat higher-level troops and players. You
can also use cards like Goblin and Barbarian Huts that also generate elixir
advantage. Anytime you use this card, be on the defensive in general and then
counter attack.
So I’ve been using this Deck with Level 8 Commons and Level
6 Rare’s getting to 2984. One game away from Legendary! Finger’s crossed. Hope
this will get you guys to Legendary Arena!
Enjoy all and CLASH ON!
SNEAK PEAK: My 4.5 most reliable ways to COUNTER SPARKY! Every-time!
How to COUNTER Lava hound with ADVANCE Technique: Skeleton Run
Hey everyone, Doc Storm here.
With the new changes with the lava hound, there has been a
rise of these decks. So let me show you there not as fearful as we think. Also
I show you one of my favorite advance
technique that I call, Skeleton Run.
As always I will show you easy steps to beat them!
4 Easy Steps to Counter the Lava Hound / Full Air Decks:
1. Place your anti-air unit to attack the lava
hound / other air units they have along with your tower. 2. Place a defensive structure to attract/lure the
lava hound either:
a) Low Middle position (so both your towers can
attack it) - Preferably
b) High Middle position – Alternative
Because smart opponents may play some air units
at the edge of the map bypassing your defensive structure if it’s placed too
low (balloon players favourite).
3) Save spells to help with Lava Pups once Lava
Hound dies or if they send a Minion Horde. Pups are actually like another
Minion Horde! 4) Go for a counter attack after a Lava Hound
attack that cost 7 elixirs.
Lesson Recap:
1. Strategy Swap:
Be cognizant of opponent strategy and your own. If something is not working,
you have to adapt and switch strategies.
-
Barbarians instead of skeletons to push
- Fireball
the tower for the kill instead of countering Minion Horde
2. [ADVANCE
TECHNIQUE] Skeleton Walk: 1 Elixir to counter 5 Elixir Minion Horde (See
video for example)
3. Elixir Pump
placements: Place away from Fireball range
4. Keep an eye of opponent’s
cards: Once he used fireball. I used Barbarians to counter push.
Today is a very special day for me and I want to share it with all of you! I have finally decided to upgrade from level 7 to level 8! I'm going for it! Legendary Arena is on the horizon.
So due to this occasion, I did my first LIVE attack, show you my three most used deck, show you my card collection, open some chests, and other things before I move on!
So please feel free to join me for this special occasion!
As always the videos will have commentary to help you all get in my head, know my thought process as I play!
Today I want to switch it up! Same videos to offer gameplay
tips, but I want to show you a new deck and also a new combo!
New Deck:
Barbarians: To counter Hog Riders and Royal Giants
Spear Goblins: Our main anti-air unit, but rest assured
because you have a Freeze Spell and Crown Towers
Cannon: To counter Hog Riders and Royal Giants. Opponent has
Hog Rider and Giant/Royal Giant decks? No problem!
Freeze: Offence and defence
Valkyrie: Our hut spammer counter
Hog Rider: Our kill card
Arrows: To take out Minion Hordes and Princesses
Elixir Collector (Arena level 6 and up) or Musketeer: Our
filler card. Preferably Elixir Collector, but Musketeer is a great support and
helps us with Air Decks.
Good Swaps:
Because sometimes we don’t have these cards or
the card level is low.
1. Freeze/Arrow for Fireball/Zap
2. Musketeer for Elixir Collector
Lesson Recap:
Anticipation Arrows:
learn from previous attacks on how opponents counter you last so you can
counter their counter
Waiting to deploy
spells: sometimes you get a bonus from waiting and it tricks opponent’s
count on the elixir you have (they might think you are elixir starved when your
not)
Multi-task: keep
an eye on both lanes
Combo: Valkyrie
Freeze – Ultimate defense to clear huge waves

Special up next. First LIVE match with Doc Storm. Also his LAST match as a
level 7 as he transitions to Level 8 on his quest to Legendary Arena!
So again Supercell is going at the updates again. Some are good and some aren't...
So lets take a look at the May 18 balance update:
Buildings:
1) Cannon: Hit points decreases by 5% again (remember it was nerfed before already)
Used too much still, so they nerfed it again
2) Elixir Collector: Hit points decreases by another 9% (similar to above)
3) Tesla: Hit points increases by 5%
4) Tombstone: Hit points increases by 10%
Units:
1) ) Royal Giant: Decrease damage by 4%
Developers agree that this may not be the final fix, but they don't see him as too overpowered either
2) Guards: Hit points and damage increase by 8%
3) Fire spirits: increase damage radius by 25% to make them similar to wizards
4) Furnace: Elixir down to 4 (-1 from 5) but lifetime decrease by 10 seconds to 40 seconds now and hit points also decreases by 14%
5) Lava Hound (legendary): Hit points increases by 3% and his Lava Pups increases by 9%
6) Miner (legendary): Hit points increases by 6%
7) Bomber: Damage increases by 10%
8) Knight: Hit points increases by 10%
9) Golem: Hit points increases by 5% along with its Golemite
10) Witch: Damage increases by 10%
11) Skeletons: Hit points and damage increases by 5%
So it does affect anything that has skeletons such as Witches, Tombstone and even Skeleton Army.
Spells:
1) Freeze Spell: Decrease duration by 1 second!
Other:
Epic and Legendary Card Upgrade: Experience changed to be similar to Rare and Commons.
Conclusion:
So that is all the changes for now. I believe the most significant changes would be the Freeze Spell Cannon, and Royal Giant changes as they are the current meta.
As well will this patch finally make the Elixir Collector unusable? I feel this to be the major nerf for lower level players trying to beat higher level opponents as it is now harder than ever to gain an elixir advantage this way. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
On that guide, I show special considerations from a Beginner, Intermediate and Advance player's perspective on building decks to help everyone of every arena/skill level.
Please check it out and let me know what you think!
Stay tuned for updates for Decks next and as always CLASH ON!
So today we are going to continue with the iTeach series
episode 5, the Golem Decks. Golem decks are another deck part of the current
Meta. So we must be able to beat them if we want to be on top!
These decks usually combo the Golem with Poison Spells, or
heavy units like musketeer and wizard. Even sneaky units like the hog rider (as
we will see later in the video).
But taking them out is very similar and it actually is
similar to dealing with a Giant deck (Review: How to COUNTER Giant Decks). Golems are just more beefy! But the
bigger they are, the harder they fall. If you can learn to defend them
successfully, you will punish your opponent with a HEFTY counter attack (Again
Golems and hog riders both don’t do damage on your troops, so you will have
troops left over from defending).
4 Easy Steps to COUNTER Golem Decks:
1. For golem decks, you can place cannon or defensive
structures a bit further back compared to countering Hogs:
because it gives your cannon more time to fire
at it
space up top to deploy defending troops (like
goblins).
helps me separate the golem and its supporting
troops
2. So once you separate the two groups, lay a tank or splash
damage unit to defend the golem’s supporting troop.
3. Then lay your weaker melee troops to attack the golem.
4. Once you have successful took out the golem and
supporting troops. Go for a HEFTY counter attack.
1) Defensive tower placement a bit lower compared to facing hog decks
2) Similar to Giant Decks, separate supporting troops and the golem
3) Be-careful of goblin placements due to poison spell
*Again may want to review at How to Counter Giant Deck article
Recap:
1) Look at my goblin placements AWAY from the poison spell. They
always target it low to help damage your towers too.
2) Sneaky golem and hog rider decks. Again Golems and Hog Riders
both don’t do damage on your troops. So you can do a hefty counter attack
3) [ADVANCE technique] Valkyrie push for offence: use your
fast units to push slow ones
4) Baby dragon placement to attack the side you want after
it defends. Play things with intent. Don’t waste your troops!
